Effects Of The Shakey Economy

There have been some debates on whether or not the US is in recession or not. Some say it is.... and some say it's not. There are people who say that their businesses are not effected and that the US is not in the state of recession.... and there are others who's business doors are closing because they just can't keep up!

I have personally witnessed friends and family losing their jobs... losing their homes... hurting so badly by the economy that they can't feed their kids! Older people are losing their jobs.. and the jobs are so scarce right now that the younger... right out of college people are getting the jobs! Some of my friends and family... are struggling so much! As they lose their jobs... and as they struggle to tend to their families they cry... and I cry with them!

The state of the economy in the United States of America saddens me so much! According to this article in yahoo news (CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE ARTICLE) our economy is now hitting the kids directly! As if not eating isn't enough!!! Now schools are cutting their costs! Teachers positions are not being kept open if they can be consolidated, lunches are not as healthy because of cost for healthy foods, and some schools are even going to a 4 day week!

The cost of living and food is going up so much and the value of the dollar is going down! It's a sad day when the United States of America, one of the richest countries in the world is suffering! The schools being hit... is even more proof that our country is hurting!

In December of last year, my sweet Aunt suffered with the terrible loss of her husband to a heart attack! He was her best friend and life long partner! She was crushed! Little Piddles ~ Custom Order Tote & Business Card Holder

Recently I had the privilege of receiving a custom order tote & a business card holder from Jenn at Little Piddles! The custom order tote was personally made by Jennifer especially for me! It has our family picture on it and it also has all of my my sweet children's names so delicately painted on it! Tons of excellent detail went into creating this amazing tote for me! I am so thrilled with my tote and I have received so many compliments on it too! The business card holder is just too cute! It's made of very sturdy material and it's fabric is very chic! The closure is a magnetic snap and it stays closed perfectly! I can fit lots of business cards in it too! When You Thought I Wasn't Looking

The poem "When you thought I wasn't looking" talks a lot about the influences and roles that adults (parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents) play in a child's life. Sometimes the influence is good and sometimes it's not so good. Children are watching all the time! Watching everything you do, everything you say, how you live your life. They want to be just like you... so they do what you do too!

I personally had lots of people who influenced me. My parents taught me a lot of things that I use to this day! They taught me to always try even when I think I might fail! They also taught me that even though you might not have as much as someone else... you should still hold your head up high because you are special and you do matter. My Mom taught me that you can't love someone else until you love and accept yourself and that everyone deserves a second chance. My Dad taught me how to live life with honor. When he made a promise, he never broke it and when he agreed to do something, you knew it would get done. I take a lot after both my parents because of the influences and roles they played in my life. I have spent most of my Mommyhood teaching my children the exact same things my parents taught me... and their parents taught them.... and so on. I have several children so it's not easy but it's worth it to take the time to teach them.

I spend one-on-one time with each of my children. I love it and they appreciate it. I have found the more I teach them... the more they appreciate me. When I make a promise I don't break it and when I agree to do something.... I always follow through. I remember looking up to my Mom and Dad and thinking that they were so smart and there wasn't anything they couldn't do. They have both aged so much now and I see how fragile they look..... yet I still catch myself thinking... there isn't anything they can't do.

The encouragement, love, time, and understanding that a parent gives to a child is priceless to them. I will miss my Mom and Dad when they are no longer on this earth but I will always remember all the things my parents were to me. My children will also because I have given them what my parents gave to me. A strong sense of self, a strong sense of family, a strong sense of love, and a undefeated ambition to always do the right thing.

Every one of us influences the life of a child around us.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

How To Gain Free Advertising

After spending tons of money paying for advertising and getting no where... I became very disenchanted... discouraged... and wondered if my business was going to go anywhere at all! I had so many questions... like how to gain free advertising... how to gain traffic on my website... how to get my business' name out there so all can see!?! A lot of people ask those same questions so I decided to write it all down so anyone feeling like I once did could read it and feel encouraged that success is out there waiting for you!

How To Get Noticed By The Search Engine Spiders...
After doing research for 1 & 1/2 years... I have found out that all search engines have "spiders" that crawl over business website pages looking for keyword enriched website pages and clusters of businesses linked together. It is very important to get noticed by the "spiders" of the search engines because people can't buy from you if they do not know that you are out there waiting for them. What you need to do first is make sure you have the correct keywords on your website pages. A free SEO (Search Engine Optimization) course can help you with that. When creating your website pages, make sure you follow the rules of the search engines. There is also a Free Advertising Co-Op where you exchange website banner/link information, join traffic exchanges, join networking groups, and you join top 100s. In this article I will explain what each is so that it is clearly understood.

Defining What A Free Advertising Co-Op Is...

Website Banner/Link Exchanges:
This is where businesses participate in website banner/link exchanges. The two websites swap their banner and linking information which will connect you with other businesses and you will be noticed in the cluster that the spiders are looking for. It's a barter system. You both swap advertising space to each other. It's easy and you make wonderful friendships along the way. The free advertising co-op has rules that must be followed or the businesses that you are getting free advertising from have the right to delete your ad from their web pages or their top 100s. Their rule is that if they give you advertising you are required to provide them a place to advertise as well. If you do not provide them a place to advertise they will delete your ad and you will go back to being by yourself rather then being part of the clustered community. Both websites should offer easy to find places for website banner/link exchanges. You will put the other websites banner and info on your website and they will place your banner and info on their site. That is what links you. If they link to you but you do not link to them then the linking is useless... You are required to keep the banner of the websites that you have exchanged banners with on your website at all times. It would be unfair for you to advertise on their website but not allow them to advertise on yours. Once the spiders find large clusters of businesses linked together they allow those businesses to climb the search engine ladder faster then those who are relying only on their own rankings.

Join Traffic Exchanges...
Traffic exchanges put your banners on other websites and those other website banners on yours. Your banners are pooled together with other exchange members and are rotated on each members sites! It's an automatic way of swapping banners without you having to do anything except just simply add the code to your website. I have my one and only traffic exchange on my homepage, favorite links pages, and my top 100 pages. The more places you put the traffic exchange, the more places your banner will show up. If you have the traffic exchange code in 1 place on your website..... the traffic exchange will put your banner on 1 website. If you have it in multiple spots on your website...... then the traffic exchange will give you an even swap of your banner and place your banner on several websites. That is how that works. I belong to one traffic exchange and not only are they efficient..... they are very sweet to work with too. : ) If you sign up and then take the traffic exchange off your computer the linking will be broken and then it won't work. This exchange requires a 125x125 square banner button to advertise because they do not use the long banners yet but are working on allowing them. This exchange is one of the best and most advanced Boutique Banner Exchanges available!

Join Networking Groups...
This is a great way to get the name of your website out there for people to notice and people will get to know you on the inside (where it really matters) too! I belong to a few wonderful networking yahoo groups... that I have gained a ton of friends from. The WAHM networking groups are always so welcoming and so helpful. There are 2 really great yahoo networking groups that I would like to recommend!

Top 100 Sites...
Top 100s are huge huge shopping directories that carry tons and tons of website business ads! They are like a huge huge shopping mall that has everything you could imagine in them! If you have never heard of top 100 sites, don't worry you are not alone. Many people not only look through top 100s, but they purchase from the sites on them too! If you are interested in knowing what they are... CLICK HERE to go to my top 100 pages on my website to see what they are. I am a member of many and I welcome you to click on them and add your business as well. I shop from top 100 sites because I believe it is important to give back to your community and I believe it is important to help keep small business women's doors open for business. We need to support each other more then just emotionally. We should be shopping from each other too. I shop from sites I link with or see on top 100s because I appreciate them and their hard work. Top 100 owners also require you to carry their banner on your website at all times for two reasons: #1 - It's important to offer a place for the top 100 to advertise their top 100 in exchange for offering you a place to advertise your business! #2 - The banner they provide for you is a voting banner. When people click that banner to go to that top 100..... they are voting for you so then you move up in the top 100 list. If you do not have a banner for the top 100 on your website at all times, then no one can vote for you and that means that you will stay at the very bottom of the top 100 and you may not be noticed. If a top 100 manager checks your website and you do not have a banner for their top 100 on your website, you will be found in violation of the free advertising co-op rules (top 100 rules) and you will be at risk of being deleted from the top 100 list all together. Business owners and top 100 owners... do not mess around when it comes to advertising and you should not ignore the free advertising co-op rules. Everyone who participates in the free advertising co-op should live by the same rules.

My Tips To Creating A Successful Business...
I have been established in business for 3 1/2 years now and I now have over 90,000 individual hits a month, so if I can do it... so can you! I do not ever pay for advertising anymore. I rely completely on my key words in my web pages, my networking groups, and the free advertising co-op (exchanging website banner/info and joining top 100s). When I first opened my business, I received no sales my first year. Zilch. Noda. None. The second year I received some sales...... and the 3rd & almost 4th year now..... business has been steady with orders.... A lot of people who open a business expect it to take off immediately... but it doesn't. It takes time, work, money, nurturing, and A LOT of patience! Websites don't usually take off for at least 2 years after it's started. There is no get rick quick scheme when it comes to business! If you are starting a business out of desperation needing money you are starting it for the wrong reason. A business is like a child... it needs attention, nurturing, and you must be able to invest back into your business for it to succeed. Patience is the most important thing to remember. Networking is also an important part of your business. People want to buy from professional looking websites, people they know they can count on..... people they know stand behind their products. They want to buy from websites with clear pictures so that they can see the product.

As a successful business owner... I have seen several WAHM businesses close their doors because of impatience, frustration, and feelings of defeat. Please don't allow these feelings to defeat your dream! The free advertising co-op is a lot of work.. but it's worth it because it really does work. I know..... because I am proof of the success you can reach through the free advertising co-op! Exchange website banner/link information, join traffic exchanges, join networking groups, join top 100s, and make sure your key words are right on your website pages, network with others, nurture your business, re-invest your money back into your business, be patient.... and you can accomplish what I have done too!

Flickering Lights ~ Mia Bella Candles

For the longest time I was not able to enjoy candles because I have sever allergies... so Nicole at Flickering Lights sent me some Mia Bella candle samples and a holder to try out! The candles burned clean and clear and oh... what a beautiful sweet scent! The candles burned evenly (unlike most store bought candles) and as soon as the candle cooled... it kept it's form! How Handcrafted Jewelry Changed My Life

I am in the handcrafted jewelry business today because when I was younger handcrafted jewelry changed my life in such a big way. When I turned 13, my Mom let me wear a very beautiful ruby butterfly pendant for the first time that was created especially for me by my very favorite Aunt! I went to school beaming, knowing that my Aunt thought I was someone really special and I wanted to share that with everyone I could! Everyone loved my pendant, but not as much as I did! I felt like a glamorous Princess that day and it was a defining moment in my life. That day I realized that my exquisite special pendant was more then just a pendant... it was a token of my sweet Aunt’s love for me and should be treasured forever!

Since my girls were little, I have created jewelry for them and myself... so that we all could have cute little colorful treasures to wear with our outfits. One day I asked my oldest daughter (age 13) if she wanted to give some of her childhood jewelry as a donation for other little girls to adore. She looked shocked at me and said "No Mom... I would never let any of the things you made me go". I asked her why not.... explaining that what she had was old and that I could always make her new and that some other little girl who is less fortunate might really like to have something so cute. She said with tears in her eyes, "Mom it came from you...so it's always special and new to me." Once again... it became clear to me that the sweet loving feeling that comes from the heart was once again present when I gave them something from me that was made especially for them.

Many people do not realize the effect an exquisite piece of jewelry can have on a person's emotions! It can be a pick me up when you want to get out of the doldrums! It can be a bold brilliant fashion statement at a social event! It can be a token of appreciation, love, devotion, & affection!

When you give someone an exquisite piece of jewelry that was created specifically for them... that special deed transforms that simple piece of jewelry into something very special and it instantly becomes a treasured heirloom that will be cherished forever!! Every time your special someone wears your gift... it will remind them that you had it created just for them... & they will smile!!
